Global Health Affiliated Expert, Public Health Emergency Management
Jim is a world-wide recognized expert on public health emergency management and the development of public health preparedness programs. Jim retired from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) after 28 years of combined federal service, having also served with the Department of Defense, and the US Army. He has provided technical assistance to countries in Central and South America, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Central Asia, and Africa. Jim served as the CEO of Emergency Management Training and Consulting, LLC, which provided emergency management capacity development to clients such as the World Health Organization European Regional Office, CDC, and numerous other businesses.
Jim received a dual bachelor’s degree in environmental science and biology from Drury University, and a master’s degree in environmental management from Webster University. He also holds the Certified Emergency Manager designation from the International Association of Emergency Managers and the Master Exercise Practitioner certification from the US Department of Homeland Security.
