CRDF Global Employee Selected for Future Arms Control Experts Program
Brandon Cortino, who currently serves as a Project Lead for CRDF Global, was chosen to participate in the Future Arms Control Experts (FACE) program, administered by the National Nuclear Security Administration’s Office of Nonproliferation and Arms Control (NPAC) in the Office of Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation (DNN) and the Center for Strategic and International Studies’ Project on Nuclear Issues (PONI).
Throughout the one-year FACE program, participants will have the opportunity to engage with former arms control negotiators, inspectors, and other experts to enhance their own skills and networks; participate in simulations and tabletop exercises in preparation for future arms control negotiations; and contribute to a digital archive and analysis of historical documents and video interviews.
Before joining CRDF Global, Brandon Cortino worked as a Deterrence Analyst at United States Strategic Command and as a Research Associate at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory’s Center for Global Security Research, where he conducted research on Russian thought in arms control. He holds a Master’s in international studies degree from North Carolina State University and was a nuclear policy research assistant for Dr. Robert Reardon with National Nuclear Security Administration funding.
“It’s an honor to be chosen to engage in good faith dialogue on nuclear issues as part of CSIS’ inaugural FACE cohort,” said Brandon. “I hope to develop skills that can improve strategic stability in the most unpredictable period of time on the global stage since détente molded the environment we live in, and then apply those newfound skills in the interest of maintaining global peace for all parties.”
