CRDF Global Delivers Targeted Cyber Hygiene Training for Ukrainian Government Employees

On May 29 & 30, CRDF Global, in partnership with Global Affairs Canada and the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC), successfully conducted a specialized cyber hygiene awareness training for Ukrainian government employees.
This two-day training marked the third event in a broader cybersecurity capacity-building initiative and the second cyber hygiene session delivered under the new Capacity Building for Cybersecurity in Ukraine project. The initiative is designed to strengthen Ukraine’s cyber resilience and support the rebuilding and modernization of its digital infrastructure amid ongoing threats.
The training brought together staff from the NSDC—a government agency responsible for shaping and coordinating national security policies. Recognizing the heightened threat environment in which these professionals operate, the training was specifically tailored to their needs and the challenges they face as high-value targets for cyberattacks.
During four intensive sessions, participants gained practical knowledge and hands-on skills in the fundamentals of cyber hygiene. Topics included the latest trends in cyber threats, advanced social engineering tactics, and the emerging use of artificial intelligence in cyberattacks. Participants also explored best practices for securing personal devices, managing messaging apps safely, identifying phishing attempts, and maintaining privacy while using mobile applications and public networks. A highlight of the training was the dedicated session on the responsible and secure use of AI tools, which have become increasingly prevalent in the daily work of government institutions. This component addressed both the advantages and security risks of AI applications, offering guidance on balancing productivity with safe usage—especially when handling sensitive information.
The event underscored the ongoing commitment of international and national partners to enhancing Ukraine’s cyber capabilities and protecting its critical institutions from digital threats.
