CRDF Global Attends Global Partnership Working Group in Vancouver, Canada

During the week of November 18 – 21, 2025, Ms. Nadia Abraibesh and Mr. Greg Kelly represented CRDF Global at the Global Partnership Working Group Against the Spread of Weapons and Materials of Mass Destruction (GPWG) in Vancouver, Canada. The Working Group was hosted by Global Affairs Canada, as part of Canada’s G7 Presidency. During the workshop CRDF Global actively contributed to discussions in the Nuclear and Radiological Security Sub-Working Group (NRSWG), the Chemical Security Sub-Working Group (CSWG), and the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Sub-Working Group (CBRNWG).

During the NRSWG, Mr. Kelly shared the impact of their work with Global Affairs Canada (GAC) in the maritime, finance, and cybersecurity sectors across Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America had on enforcing sanctions on the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK). In both the NRSWG and the CBRNWG CRDF Global shared ideas for how to advance counterproliferation finance operations in the public and private sectors of the Indo-Pacific and South Asia. During the CSWG, Ms. Abraibesh shared ideas and opportunities to address pressing chemical security challenges in Syria.   

Overall, CRDF Global was proud to be a part of key discussions on chemical security programming strategies, countering WMD disinformation, and improving strategic trade controls on WMD-relevant technologies. Travel to the GPWG was made possible by the generous support of Global Affairs Canada.
